AC Milan has signed Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea for around 37 million euros ($43 million) on Saturday.

The French player has agreed to a five-year contract, though Milan did not reveal the financial specifics.

Nkunku, 27, developed in Paris Saint-Germain’s youth program before moving to Leipzig in 2019. He played the last two seasons for Chelsea, where he scored 18 goals in 62 matches. His winning goal against Benfica in the Club World Cup round of 16 contributed to Chelsea’s tournament victory.

Known for his dribbling skills and quickness, Nkunku is expected to enhance Milan’s attack. He can function both as an attacking midfielder and a forward and has represented France 14 times.

Chelsea’s manager Enzo Maresca noted in August that Nkunku wouldn’t remain with the team after joining in 2023 on a six-year deal worth approximately 52 million pounds (about $70 million).

“Christo is a great professional,” Maresca stated. “The challenge was finding playing time for him since we have Cole Palmer in that position.”

Milan secured a 2-0 victory at Lecce following a defeat at home against newly promoted Cremonese in their Serie A season opener.
