AC Milan will face Napoli in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final on Thursday at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Even though Milan won against Napoli in Serie A earlier this season, they are unlikely to take Antonio Conte’s team lightly.
Massimiliano Allegri’s squad comes into the game unbeaten in their last two Serie A matches. Their latest match ended in a 2-2 draw against Sassuolo, placing AC Milan second in the Serie A standings with 32 points, just one point ahead of Napoli and one point behind leaders Inter Milan.
The team has faced a challenge in defense, as center-back Matteo Gabbia sustained a hyperextension injury to his left knee during the draw with Sassuolo on December 14. Medical tests have shown no serious long-term damage to his ligaments or meniscus.
Gabbia is expected to miss the Supercoppa Italiana match but should be back for the Serie A game against Hellas Verona on December 28.
In attack, Christian Pulisic is Milan’s key player this season, with seven goals and two assists in 10 Serie A appearances. The United States international has a shooting accuracy of 73.33%, hitting the target with 11 of his 15 attempts.
Possible AC Milan starting XI: Maignan; De Winter, Tomori, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Loftus-Cheek, Modric, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Pulisic, Nkunku.
The match will start at 8pm BST on Thursday, December 18.
In the United Kingdom, viewers can watch the match live on Premier Sports.
