Prime Volleyball League: Ahmedabad Defenders Defeat Delhi Toofans in Five-Set Match

In a thrilling match during the fourth season of the R.R Kabel Prime Volleyball League, the Ahmedabad Defenders secured a remarkable victory against the Delhi Toofans. Ahmedabad made a stunning comeback after losing the first two sets to win the contest. The final score was 13-15, 13-15, 15-13, 15-8, 18-16.

Delhi started the first set strongly, led by Jesus Chourio’s excellent play. After some well-contested rallies, key blocks from Chourio and Mohammed Jasim put Delhi in command. A super spike from Jasim extended their lead. Ahmedabad was held back by several service errors, with a final mistake from Batur Battsuri giving the first set to Delhi.

In the second set, Angamuthu’s powerful spikes gave Ahmedabad a chance to fight back. A super block from Carlos Berrios helped them equalize after being four points behind. However, a smash from Anu James re-established Delhi’s control. Ahmedabad leveled the score with a super point, but Jasim’s performance once again gave Delhi the lead. A final super spike from Jasim secured the second set for Delhi after Angamuthu made a crucial service error.

Chourio again gave Delhi a bright start in the third set, and a super serve from Anu James increased their lead. Shon T John responded with a super serve for Ahmedabad, making the game more intense, though his next serve went out. Chourio continued to perform well, but a powerful smash from Shon T John late in the set earned Ahmedabad a super point, bringing them back into the game. An impressive spike from Akhin then won the set for Ahmedabad.

In the fourth set, Saqlain Tariq gave Delhi the first point with a good serve. However, Ahmedabad fought back, with Battsuri and Shon playing key roles to level the score. From there, Ahmedabad dominated, building a solid lead and eventually winning a super point to make it 13-8. Angamuthu finished the set with a strong smash, tying the match at two sets each.

The fifth and final set was a close battle. Ahmedabad took an early lead through Shon, but the teams traded points. A strong attack from Battsuri helped Ahmedabad pull ahead, and a breakthrough from Akhin extended their advantage. Delhi made a comeback with a super serve from George Antony, but a crucial spike from Angamuthu kept Ahmedabad in the fight. The score remained tight until the very end, when a decisive block by Abinav clinched the match for Ahmedabad.

On Sunday, the Kolkata Thunderbolts will play against the Bengaluru Torpedoes at 6:30 PM, followed by a match between the Kochi Blue Spikers and the Goa Guardians at 8:30 PM.
