The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is officially underway, as Egypt’s Al Ahly take on Inter Miami in the tournament’s opening match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The Group A showdown also features FC Porto and Palmeiras, two other contenders in what promises to be a highly competitive group.

Al Ahly enter the tournament after earning their place by winning the CAF Champions League three times. The Egyptian powerhouse, which also hold three consecutive domestic league titles, are making their Club World Cup debut under newly appointed head coach Jose Riveiro.

On the other side, Inter Miami represent Major League Soccer as both the host club and the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield winner. The South Florida side bring plenty of star power to the pitch, led by Lionel Messi and supported by former Barcelona teammates Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.
