Al-Ittihad has renewed its efforts to sign Mohamed Salah after his surprising announcement to leave Liverpool.
The Saudi Pro League team had previously submitted a £150 million offer for the 33-year-old, which was rejected in September 2023. According to ESPN, the Jeddah-based club aims to make Salah the centerpiece of their ambitions.
Al-Ittihad is in urgent need of a standout player following the controversial transfer of star striker Karim Benzema to rival club Al-Hilal in February 2026. Currently positioned sixth in the league, they see Salah as key to their revival.
Al-Ittihad resumes chase for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah
Salah confirmed his upcoming departure on Tuesday and will officially leave Anfield at the end of the 2025-26 season.
In light of a previously signed extension, a mutual decision has now been made for him to leave on a free transfer.
This arrangement honors Salah’s impressive nine years at Liverpool, where he scored 255 goals in 435 matches.
This remarkable record places him third on the club’s all-time scoring chart. His exit signifies the conclusion of a notable chapter that brought eight major trophies, including two Premier League titles.

Recently, Salah’s performance has seen a slight dip, leading to a public conflict after being benched. He expressed feelings of being “thrown under the bus” in a recent outburst.
These rising tensions with manager Arne Slot seem to have expedited his decision to seek new challenges abroad this summer.
Meanwhile, Al-Qadsiah could present an immediate challenge as they are the only Saudi club likely to rival Al-Ittihad’s generous offer.
In contrast, it appears that Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, and Al-Ahli are not closely watching the situation.
Salah leaves a significant legacy in English football, and his next move could redefine the Saudi Pro League.
Al-Ittihad is in dire need of a transformative figure to regain their former glory, and signing Salah would make a strong statement on the global stage.
