After the qualification of Morocco and Saudi Arabia on Thursday, the Arab Cup quarter-finals continued on Friday with Algeria facing the United Arab Emirates at 11:00 AM IST for a place in the semi-finals. Despite dominating the first half and having two goals disallowed for offside, Algeria struggled to break the deadlock. In the second half, Algeria finally found the net when Boulbina converted a rebound from Brahimi’s shot that was saved by the Emirati goalkeeper (1-0, 46th minute).
However, the lead was short-lived as the UAE equalized shortly after through Bruno (1-1, 64th minute). In the final moments, Algeria pressed for another goal but couldn’t regain the advantage, leading to extra time and eventually a penalty shootout. After missing penalties, Algeria was eliminated, allowing the United Arab Emirates to advance and face Morocco on Monday at 9:00 AM IST in an attempt to reach the final.
