The African Cup of Nations (AFCON) is set to begin, with teams from across Africa preparing to compete, following the footsteps of the 2023 champions, Ivory Coast.

Participating nations are now announcing their squads, featuring players from different parts of the world, including Europe.

Some of these players have connections to Manchester United, either as current or former members of the team.

Past Manchester United Players in AFCON 2025

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who played 190 matches for Manchester United, is now with West Ham United and has been selected to represent the Democratic Republic of Congo in this tournament. This will be his debut at AFCON.

Axel Tuanzebe

Axel Tuanzebe, currently at Burnley, came through United’s youth system and made 37 appearances for the team. He will join the Democratic Republic of Congo squad for AFCON 2025, his first appearance in the tournament after playing for England’s youth teams.

Wilfried Zaha

Wilfried Zaha, known for his time at Crystal Palace, made two appearances for Manchester United between 2013 and 2014. Currently with Charlotte FC, he has been selected for the Ivory Coast squad, where he may play alongside United’s Amad Diallo. This will be Zaha’s fourth time in the tournament, his first since 2021 after missing out in 2023.

Present Manchester United Players in AFCON 2025

Amad Diallo

Amad Diallo, who rose through United’s youth ranks, is now a key player in Amorim’s team. The winger will play for the Ivory Coast, joining the squad announced earlier this month, and may team up with players like Seko Fofana and Wilfried Zaha.

Bryan Mbeumo

Bryan Mbeumo officially joined Manchester United from Brentford in the summer of 2025. The forward has made 17 appearances for the club and is set to represent Cameroon in the tournament, possibly alongside Etta Eyong.

Noussair Mazraoui

Noussair Mazraoui, who has played 66 times for Manchester United since joining in 2024, is named in the Morocco squad. He will be playing alongside teammates like Brahim Diaz and Yassine Bounou.
