Alonso Calls Upon Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior for Upcoming Match

Kylian Mbappé’s generous act of giving his penalty to Vinícius Júnior during the match against Valencia has sparked considerable discussion. Many praised the French player for passing up a chance to score his third goal. However, some criticized him, arguing he should have taken the penalty himself to honor his role as the designated taker, in line with Xabi Alonso’s guidelines.

Regardless of the mixed opinions, the Spanish coach chose to avoid escalating the controversy and downplayed the incident after the match. However, he did hold a meeting with both players to address the situation. According to Defensa Central, he advised them not to repeat such decisions in the future. Xabi Alonso emphasized that he prefers to be consulted on such matters and believes that Mbappé is more reliable than Vinícius when it comes to taking penalties.
