Xabi Alonso is reportedly on a shortlist to succeed Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Guardiola’s contract extends to 2027, but there is speculation about his potential exit this summer.
Alonso is available after his dismissal from Real Madrid in January, following a loss to Barcelona in the Supercopa final.
Xabi Alonso ‘expected’ to be on Man City shortlist to replace Pep Guardiola
The Telegraph reports that City will consider Alonso along with former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and Cesc Fabregas as potential replacements for Guardiola.
Earlier in January, Maresca had discussions with City officials about a future role, which contributed to his recent firing by Chelsea.
Fabregas is currently gaining attention for his work with Como 1907 in Serie A, where the team aims for European competition and is positioned sixth in the league.
