Ruben Amorim confirmed that Kobbie Mainoo will not face punishment after his half-brother was seen wearing a ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ t-shirt at Old Trafford.

Mainoo has yet to start a Premier League match this season and is reportedly considering leaving in January.

During the club’s 4-4 draw with Bournemouth, his half-brother, Jordan Mainoo-Hames, wore the t-shirt with the controversial message.

Amorim was not questioned about the t-shirt following the match but addressed it at his pre-match press conference for the upcoming game against Aston Villa.

Amorim emphasized that Mainoo’s spot on the team will not be affected by his family’s actions.

“No [it won’t affect team selection]. It was not Kobbie who wore the T-shirt. He is going to play if we feel he is the right guy. That is not an issue. I am not going to do something to Kobbie because of someone in his family.”
