The upcoming international break in November offers African teams a chance to prepare for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco. Hence, friendly matches must be selected with care. On November 14, Angola has made a bold move. For several years, Argentina has accepted to play high-profile friendlies for significant fees. Following their World Cup victory, the Albiceleste has notably increased their asking price and was negotiating with Morocco.
However, the Moroccan Football Federation did not meet Argentina’s demands, which included over €10 million and covering the expenses to transport Lionel Messi and his team to Rabat. Angola, on the other hand, has decided to match the financial expectations. According to Footem.in, to celebrate the country’s independence day, the Angolan Football Federation has committed €12 million for this friendly match. With Messi likely to be present, the stadium is expected to be filled, but it remains uncertain if this investment will pay off.
