Antigua GFC will represent Guatemala in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, making headlines with a notable social media post. They stated, “Only the best will fight for a place in the Club World Cup,” taking a direct jab at rivals Comunicaciones and Municipal, according to ClaroSports.
The draw has pitted Antigua against the MLS team Seattle Sounders in the first round. If they progress, they will meet the winner of the Cruz Azul versus Real Hope match. The first leg is set for February 4–6 at Estadio Pensativo, with the second leg on February 11–13 at Lumen Field in Seattle.
Despite losing to Xelajú in last season’s Guatemalan league semifinals, Antigua is staying focused on its goals. This will mark their second Concacaf appearance since 2016-17, as they seek to join Comunicaciones and Municipal as the only Guatemalan clubs with international trophies.
