Arab Club Champions Cup: Al Nassr to Final Thanks to Ronaldo’s Penalty Goal

Abha – Al Nassr made it to the final of the Arab Club Champions Cup 2023 after defeating Al Shorta 1-0. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the goal from the spot.

The semifinal round of the Arab Club Champions Cup brought together Al Shorta vs Al Nassr. The match took place at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium, Wednesday (9/8/2023) night IST.

Al Nassr fielded their best squad from the first minute. Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic and Alex Telles all started.

Al Nassr had many chances at the start of the first half. Talisca had two attempts saved by Al Shorta goalkeeper Al Fadhli.

Al Shorta threatened again before halftime. Ahmed Farhan’s long-range shot was secured by Al Nassr goalkeeper Alaqidi. The first half ended in a goalless draw.

Al Nassr did not relax their attacks in the second half. Ronaldo’s shot in the 51st minute was blocked by Al Fadhli.

PENALTY! Al Nassr were awarded a 12-pointer in the 71st minute. Sadio Mane is brought down by Faisal Jassim in the box.

GOAL! Ronaldo, who came forward as a penalty taker, successfully netted the ball into Al Shorta’s goal. Al Nassr takes a 1-0 lead.

Ronaldo almost scored the second goal in the 88th minute. CR7’s header from Sadio Mane’s cross was parried by the goalkeeper.

Al Shorta almost equalised in the 90th minute through Ahmed Farhan’s attempt. Alaqidi tipped Farhan’s shot in a one-on-one situation.

The 1-0 score for Al Nassr lasted until the long whistle sounded. The Global Club qualify for the Arab Club Champions Cup final and await the winner between Al Hilal vs Al Shabab.
