Arsenal is considering a last-minute bid for Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves, although finalizing a deal before the deadline seems challenging.
The Gunners are exploring options for midfield reinforcements following Mikel Merino’s injury, which has sidelined him with a broken foot.
Merino is likely to miss a significant portion of the remaining season. Ahead of the club’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea, Arteta mentioned that all possibilities are being examined.
“Losing a key player like this with four months left and other competitions to consider means we have to look,” Arteta stated.
“We need to explore every possible option to see if there’s a player available. If not, we stick with what we have.
“At this level, and especially over four months, we need a player capable of adapting quickly and making an immediate impact. It’s not easy, but we must find solutions and try.”
Neves is seen as an attractive option for Arsenal, given his previous Premier League experience and potential for an immediate contribution, as reported by Football London.
The Portugal international’s contract with Al-Hilal is set to expire this summer, although the Saudi club aims to negotiate an extension. Earlier in the transfer window, Manchester United was also linked with Neves.
