Arsenal plans to loan Ethan Nwaneri to Marseille after striking a deal during the January transfer window.
The winger will join former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi to gain more playing time.
At 18, Nwaneri’s progress has slowed after a successful season last year. He has not started a Premier League match this season, despite making 11 starts in 2024/25.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a “deal (is) in place” for Nwaneri to move to Marseille on loan until June, without an option for purchase.
The French club will cover his salary and pay a loan fee of around €4 million, depending on his appearances.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta discussed the plans with De Zerbi after suggesting that Marseille would be the “best option” for the player’s development.
The Athletic reports that other clubs were interested in a “permanent mechanism” for the deal, but Arsenal rejected such clauses.
