Arsenal have struck a major deal to bring Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in a transfer worth around Β£68 million. Both clubs have reached an agreement in principle, putting an end to the transfer race that also had Tottenham in the mix.
The 27-year-old England international is expected to play one last match for Palace against Fredrikstad in the Conference League play-off before heading for his Arsenal medical. Personal terms are close to being wrapped up, and the move is now considered only a matter of time.
The operation was led by Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta alongside vice-chairman Tim Lewis, who moved swiftly to secure Eze after Tottenham failed to finalize their bid.
Eze, a boyhood Arsenal fan and former academy player, will become the clubβs seventh summer signing under Bertaβs watch. The Gunners have already added Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cristhian Mosquera, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, and Viktor Gyokeres.
The signing also comes at a crucial time, as Kai Havertz is sidelined with an injury, leaving Mikel Artetaβs side short of creativity in midfield. Ezeβs arrival is expected to provide an immediate boost to Arsenalβs attacking options.
Eze joined Palace from QPR back in 2020 for Β£17 million and has since become a key figure, scoring 40 goals in 169 appearances. On the international stage, he has been capped 12 times for England, finding the net once.
With this deal, Arsenal continue to build a strong squad aimed at challenging for the Premier League title. For fans, itβs a moment of excitementβEberechi Eze is finally coming home.
