Eintracht Frankfurt is set to make a significant move for a young French talent. A few months ago, the German club earned a substantial amount by selling Hugo Ekitike (23 years) to Liverpool for around €95 million. This new sale highlights Frankfurt’s ability to develop and sell its attacking players efficiently (like Haller, Jovic, and Marmoush) in recent years. Now, the team has another promising talent in their ranks.
Arriving in winter 2024 from SCO Angers for €8 million, left winger Jean-Mattéo Bahoya has already made an impact with his new team. Although he often plays as a luxury substitute rather than a starter, he has scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist in 18 matches, making a significant difference on the pitch. Capable of playing on the right flank, as a striker, or in support of the central attacker, the Montfermeil native has an intriguing profile that attracts attention.
As a key player for the French U21 team, Jean-Mattéo Bahoya was reportedly close to leaving Germany last summer when Saudi club Al-Ittihad offered €60 million. However, his club deemed that insufficient, hoping for a higher fee as he is under contract until June 2029, and Bahoya himself was keen to remain in Frankfurt. Fast and an excellent dribbler, he enjoys his time at the club, although he has expressed dissatisfaction with his limited playing time as he faces a more challenging phase.
Sporting director Markus Krösche intends to keep him for an additional season next summer, alongside another young talent, Can Uzun (20 years). However, Frankfurt has set a high price for Bahoya to deter potential suitors. According to Sky Germany, several English clubs are interested, particularly Arsenal, which is looking at improving its left flank amid inconsistencies from Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Frankfurt demands no less than €70 million for their rising star, who is already turning heads despite not being at his peak yet.
