Arsenal is interested in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this summer.
Guehi’s contract at Palace ends at the season’s conclusion, attracting interest from several top European clubs.
Liverpool attempted to sign Guehi during the summer transfer window, but the deal fell through when Palace could not secure a replacement. They still want the England international at Anfield.
In addition to Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan are now also pursuing Guehi.
The Athletic reports that Arsenal does not plan to make a move this month but sees the chance to sign the 25-year-old as a free agent as appealing.
Liverpool favors a summer transfer despite issues in defense, while Manchester City may complicate matters as they are ready to pursue Guehi immediately.
With injuries to Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol, City is in need of defensive reinforcements. They hope that a reasonable offer can persuade Palace to sell now, rather than losing their captain for free in the summer.
Cristal Palace’s manager Oliver Glasner mentioned earlier this month that the club could consider selling Guehi for the right price.
“I’m not naive,” Glasner stated. “If a big offer comes from City and Marc wants to go, it will happen. From a sporting perspective, everyone at the club prefers him to stay. However, the financial aspect is crucial.
“There will come a point where the club must prioritize financial matters over sporting considerations. It will depend on Marc’s willingness to leave, as he ultimately decides.”
