Arsenal will face Brighton in the Premier League this Saturday as they aim to maintain their lead at the top of the table as 2025 comes to a close.
The Gunners currently lead Manchester City by two points but could lose their position if they do not secure a win against Brighton and City triumphs over Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal is unbeaten in their last five encounters with Brighton, having won three and drawn two. The team enters this match after reaching the League Cup semi-finals.
Several players are facing injuries ahead of this match. Gabriel Martinelli and Piero Hincapie are doubtful, while Ben White, Cristhian Mosquera, Kai Havertz, and Max Dowman are confirmed out due to injury.
Gabriel Magalhães may return to the squad, which would be a significant advantage for the team after missing nine matches due to a hamstring injury.
Brighton is also dealing with injuries affecting key players. Danny Welbeck is a doubt because of a back issue, while Solly March, Adam Webster, and Stefanos Tzimas are sidelined. Mats Wieffer might return from a head injury, and Jan Paul van Hecke is expected to be part of the squad following an illness.
After a challenging period, Arsenal has bounced back with four consecutive wins across competitions, most recently winning in a penalty shootout against Crystal Palace in the League Cup.
They faced setbacks from Aston Villa earlier this month but have rebounded with victories over Club Brugge, Wolves, and Everton, although the latter two wins were not entirely convincing.
It’s been nearly a month since Brighton last won a match. After defeating Nottingham Forest at the end of November, they have lost to Aston Villa and Liverpool and drawn with West Ham United and Sunderland.
Possible Arsenal Starting XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Calafiori, Lewis-Skelly; Zubimendi, Rice, Ødegaard; Saka, Gyökeres, Martinelli.
Possible Brighton Starting XI: Verbruggen; Wieffer, Veltman, Dunk, Kadıoğlu; Ayari, Gómez, Gruda; Mitoma, Rutter, Minteh.
This match will not be broadcast in the UK because of the Saturday blackout rule.
