Arsenal will play Real Madrid at home in the first part of the 2024/25 Champions League quarter-finals. The exciting match between the two teams will be held at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, 9/4 at the early morning IST time.
Arsenal are not doing well before the match. The reason is that Arsenal didn’t win in the Premier League after being held to a 1-1 draw by Everton. This means it is now even more difficult for them to become Premier League champions, even though Liverpool also lost to Fulham that same week.
Mikel Arteta’s team has indeed never lost in the last seven matches. But the results they got were not the best because they drew four times. Arsenal’s defence has been weak in the last five matches, with only one clean sheet.
Real Madrid also had a tough time before their match against Arsenal. Los Blancos surprisingly lost 1-2 at home to Valencia in La Liga. This means they are now behind Barcelona at the top of the league.
Carlo Ancelotti needs to watch his team’s defence closely, as they let in eight goals in the last three matches.
But Real Madrid is still one of the favourites to win the 2024/2025 Champions League. Even though they didn’t do well in the League Phase, Los Blancos still beat Manchester City in the play-off round and Atletico Madrid in the last 16.
The next challenge for Real Madrid is facing Arsenal in the last 8. The players of both teams are not in top form, but the match is still set to be a close one.
Arsenal (4-3-3): David Raya; Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Jakub Kiwior, Myles Lewis-Skelly; Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Declan Rice; Bukayo Saka, Mikel Merino, Gabriel Martinelli.
Coach: Mikel Arteta.
Real Madrid (4-2-3-1): Thibaut Courtois; Lucas Vazquez, Raul Asencio, Antonio Rudiger, Ferland Mendy; Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga; Rodrygo, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior; Kylian Mbappe.
Coach: Carlo Ancelotti.
Real Madrid will play against Arsenal in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final this Wednesday, April 9. The match is set to kick off at 12:30 AM (Indian Time).
