Mikel Arteta praised Declan Rice as one of the top midfielders in the world after the Arsenal player scored twice in their 3-2 victory against Bournemouth.

Rice made his return from injury, contributing significantly to Arsenal’s position at the top of the Premier League, now six points ahead.

Bournemouth initially took the lead with a goal from Evanilson, but Gabriel Maghalaes equalized. Rice then scored two goals in the second half, securing the win, although Eli Junior Kroupi managed to pull one back for Bournemouth.

Since joining Arsenal, Rice has become a more offensive player. His brace at Bournemouth increased his total to four goals for the current Premier League season. Both goals showcased his ability to arrive late and capitalize on opportunities.

The 26-year-old seems set to surpass his previous scoring record of seven goals, achieved during his first season at the club.

In his post-match comments, Arteta highlighted Rice’s return as crucial for the team.

“Every hour for him was important today. We weren’t sure how long he could last, but he competed well and scored two goals, which sends a strong message to the team,” Arteta stated.

Currently, Rice is a leading contender for the PFA Player of the Year award, trailing only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. When asked if Rice can be viewed as one of the best in his position, Arteta affirmed this view.
