Mikel Arteta praised Martin Zubimendi for his outstanding performance after the midfielder scored the winning goal in Arsenal‘s 3-2 victory over Chelsea.

Zubimendi’s goal gave Arsenal a crucial first-leg lead in their Carabao Cup semi-final match. The summer signing from Real Sociedad displayed excellent skill, partnering with Viktor Gyokeres before calmly finishing inside the box.

This latest achievement adds to Zubimendi’s growing reputation as a vital player for Arsenal since his arrival.

Arteta expressed his satisfaction with Zubimendi’s contributions in North London but indicated that there is more potential to unlock.

“When we discuss Zubi, it’s about what more he can achieve. He has the ability to do anything; his qualities are reminiscent of Declan,” Arteta mentioned in his post-match comments.

“We need to keep helping him explore his potential because he excels at finding space, dribbling, and winning challenges. He also has a knack for making decisive plays in the final third and shows remarkable composure. Today, his performance was fantastic, not only because of the goal but for the overall play.”

Arsenal is targeting their first League Cup title since 1993 and is also competing for the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup this season.

Arteta noted that the hard-fought victory against Chelsea would boost his team’s momentum.

“It’s a significant win, especially since it’s a difficult place to play. Chelsea is a quality team, and their ability to create openings quickly is impressive. I greatly appreciate what the team has accomplished today.”
