Mikel Arteta has stated that Arsenal will be ‘actively looking’ for new signings in the January transfer window.
The transfer window for Premier League clubs opens on Thursday, and Arsenal plans to explore the market for new additions.
Currently, Arsenal is missing several defensive players, including Cristhian Mosquera, Ben White, Jurrien Timber, and Riccardo Calafiori. Declan Rice filled in as a right-back during the recent victory over Brighton.
Several key players, such as Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Maghalaes, and Kai Havertz, have also dealt with injuries this season.
Despite investing around £250 million in eight new players over the summer, Arteta indicated that additional signings might take place next month as the club aims to compete on various fronts.
“We’re going to be very aware of the situation and the timeline for players returning from injury,” Arteta mentioned in his pre-match press conference before the game against Aston Villa.
“We have to be actively looking, and then can we do it or not? That’s a different story, but our job is to always be prepared because something can happen.”
