Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is optimistic about Gabriel’s return to fitness.
The centre-back has been sidelined since injuring himself while playing for Brazil during the international break in November. He is now back in training with the Premier League leaders, indicating he may soon be available for selection.
This weekend’s match against Everton may come too early for him, but Arsenal hopes he can be back for the holiday fixtures. Ben White will also be unavailable this weekend, though the team believes his injury isn’t serious.
“White is out, but he is improving. It’s not a serious injury, but it will keep him out for a few games,” Arteta stated at a pre-match press conference.
“I don’t expect it to be major, and Ben heals quickly, so we hope to have him back soon.
“Gabriel is working hard, as he always does when he’s recovering. He is making good progress, and we’re positive about his rehabilitation as we monitor his final days of recovery.
“Kai Havertz is also progressing well and quickly. If he continues on this path in the next training sessions, he should be back with us soon.”
