Mikel Arteta is pleased with the growing connection between Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke at Arsenal.
Madueke joined Arsenal from Chelsea this summer, seen as both competition and support for Saka on the right wing. His strong performances have prompted Arteta to try both players together on the field.
Saka played in a central position during the recent win against Wigan Athletic, and Arteta noted that the 24-year-old is eager to excel in a number ten role.
Before the upcoming match against Wolves, the Arsenal manager said, “I think he enjoys playing centrally, and he likes challenges. Anything that allows him to prove himself motivates him, and that’s a good thing.”
Arteta discussed the rapport between the two players, highlighting that a bit of friendly competition is beneficial for team spirit.
“This morning, they were in the gym testing their limits, and everyone was trying to outdo each other. Those two were particularly entertaining,” he said. “It’s great to see because their friendship is natural. They spend a lot of time together, and while there’s some competitiveness, it helps the team as well as them.”
“I’ve talked with the England players who know him well (before we signed Madueke). Some of them were even in the same academy with Noni, so it’s crucial to understand his journey from those who have seen it firsthand.”
