Mikel Arteta has advised Arsenal teenager Max Dowman to remain humble following his record-breaking moment against Everton.
Dowman became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history over the weekend, helping Arsenal secure a 2-0 victory against Everton in stoppage time.
The 16-year-old is gaining attention after being involved with the first team this season, and his record-breaking goal has been in the spotlight lately.
Arteta acknowledges that Dowman’s impact at such a young age is uncommon, but he has encouraged the player to focus on what’s next. Speaking about Dowman, Arteta mentioned that the winger has the necessary support to achieve lasting success.
“What he achieved in that moment is very rare. He has done it, and now it’s about moving forward,” Arteta said to the media on Monday, ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League match with Bayer Leverkusen.
“His family is the most important support, and he is in a good place. He manages everything well and understands the sport.”
