Colo-Colo captain Arturo Vidal spoke about the unfortunate event that cast a shadow over his team’s win in the Chilean Superclásico against Universidad de Chile. He shared his condolences on Instagram after a supporter died at the stadium.
“Today, football is not the priority. I am deeply saddened and want to express my condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the fan who passed away during the Superclásico. It is painful that we continue to face such losses in our stadiums. Wishing everyone strength during this tough time. 🙏🏽🖤,” Vidal stated.
Police reports indicate that the tragedy happened when the fan attempted to move between sections. The man fell from the roof and later died in the hospital due to the injuries he sustained.
Despite the incident, the match continued, and Colo-Colo won 1-0.
