Joshua Zirkzee has faced challenges since joining Manchester United.
He arrived from Bologna for £36.5 million in the summer of 2024, bringing high expectations from United supporters.
His debut was promising, as he came off the bench to score the winning goal against Fulham.
However, it has been downhill since then, with only eight goals across all competitions.
His record includes four Premier League goals in 42 appearances.
Zirkzee has struggled to get playing time at United, and the departure of Erik ten Hag, who brought him to the club, did not help his situation.
With the signing of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha, Zirkzee’s role became even more limited.
According to GiveMeSport via Gazzetta dello Sport, Zirkzee is set to join AS Roma.
This deal is reportedly in the final stages of negotiation.
Evan Ferguson’s loan from Brighton to Roma is in jeopardy after a poor run, leaving the Irish player with just one league goal and facing criticism from coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
It seems Zirkzee is the preferred choice to replace Ferguson in Roma’s lineup as they aim to maintain their fourth-place standing in Serie A.
Having showcased his talent in Serie A before, Zirkzee might find this move beneficial after a tough period in England.
He had scored 11 goals in 34 Serie A matches during the 2023/24 season before his transfer to Manchester United.
