Aston Villa is in talks to re-sign Douglas Luiz from Juventus in the upcoming January transfer window due to another injury in the midfield.
Youri Tielemans faces a lengthy recovery from an ankle injury, according to The Athletic.
The Belgium player got injured during a match against Newcastle United and joins both John McGinn and Boubacar Kamara on the injury list.
An initial scan shows that Tielemans is expected to be back after McGinn, who will be unavailable for at least six weeks, while Kamara will miss the rest of the season.
With Villa just four points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal, the club may enter the transfer market to support their unexpected title challenge.

The club had considered signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek from AC Milan but has now shifted focus back to fan-favorite Luiz.
Sky Sports News reports that discussions are ongoing to bring back the 27-year-old, who left for Juventus 18 months ago for £43 million (€50 million).
Luiz can switch loan clubs from Nottingham Forest, where he has had limited playtime this season, making only five starts in the Premier League.
Additionally, Villa aims to finalize the acquisition of former striker Tammy Abraham from Besiktas this week, having agreed on an £18 million deal.
