Aston Villa will host Manchester United at Villa Park on Sunday, aiming for a historic win.
Unai Emery’s team is targeting a seventh consecutive Premier League victory, a feat not achieved since 1990. Additionally, a win would mark their tenth straight victory in all competitions.
Villa is in the title race, sitting just three points behind the leaders. However, they face a United team that has historically troubled them. Villa has only won one of their last 26 Premier League home matches against United. Emery hopes to change this record and maintain pressure on top team Arsenal.
The key issue is the fitness of goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez. He recently missed matches due to illness but is reportedly feeling “much better” and could be back in action. If fit, he will replace Robin Olsen in goal.
In defence, Emery will be without Tyrone Mings and Pau Torres, both injured. This situation allows Victor Lindelöf to start against his former team. The midfield also lacks Ross Barkley, but Morgan Rogers, who has contributed to eight goals in his last 11 league games, will support Ollie Watkins in attack.
Aston Villa predicted XI: Martínez; Cash, Lindelöf, Konsa, Maatsen; Onana, Kamara; McGinn, Tielemans, Rogers; Watkins
The Premier League match is scheduled at Villa Park on Sunday, 21 December 2025. Kick-off is at 16:30 GMT.
The match will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League, with coverage starting at 16:00 GMT.
