A key match takes place at Villa Park on Sunday when Aston Villa meets Manchester United in the Premier League.
Aston Villa, led by Unai Emery, is currently the top-performing team, seeking its seventh league win in a row. The last time they achieved this was in 1990. They sit just three points behind Arsenal and one point behind Manchester City, staying in the title race.
Opposing them is Manchester United, who has improved their scoring under Ruben Amorim but still has defensive issues. They recently ended a thrilling match against Bournemouth in a 4-4 draw, where they lost multiple leads. Although they are unbeaten in four league matches, they have dropped points after being ahead on several occasions this season.
Unai Emery hopes goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez will recover from illness in time to play. If fit, he will take the place of Robin Olsen. Key defenders Tyrone Mings and Pau Torres are still out long-term, while Ross Barkley is unavailable due to a knee issue. Victor Lindelöf, a former United player, is likely to start against his old team.
Ruben Amorim faces a challenging selection dilemma. Midfielder Casemiro is suspended after receiving a yellow card against Bournemouth. The team is also missing players due to the Africa Cup of Nations, with Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo, and Bryan Mbeumo away. Additionally, Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire remain injured.
Villa is on a remarkable run. A win would make it 10 victories in a row across all competitions, a record last reached in 1914. They have been strong at home, winning their last nine matches at Villa Park. Morgan Rogers has excelled, involved in eight goals over 11 league games.
United has hit its stride on the road, scoring at least twice in their last five away league games. Bruno Fernandes is performing well, having scored and assisted in consecutive league matches. Should he provide another assist on Sunday, he will become the first player in Premier League history to assist in six straight away games.
Aston Villa predicted XI: Martínez; Cash, Lindelöf, Konsa, Maatsen; Onana, Kamara; McGinn, Tielemans, Rogers; Watkins
Manchester United predicted XI: Lammens; Yoro, Martínez, Shaw; Dalot, Mainoo, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mount, Cunha; Šeško
The match will be streamed live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League. Coverage begins at 16:00 GMT.
