Atlanta United has signed experienced goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos through the 2026 MLS season.

The agreement with the 36-year-old Argentina international includes options for the 2027-28 seasons.

Hoyos recently played for his childhood club, Newell’s Old Boys, and he boasts 135 clean sheets from 345 matches since 2010.

“We’re happy to sign Lucas and can’t wait to welcome him to the team,” said chief soccer officer and sporting director Chris Henderson. “He’s an experienced goalkeeper from South America and a leader in defense, familiar with Tata’s (Martino, Atlanta’s head coach) playing style.”

“Lucas will add competition and leadership to our young goalkeeping group as we work to strengthen our roster this offseason.”

With longtime goalkeeper Brad Guzan retiring, Atlanta United will have a new starter in goal for 2026.

Jayden Hibbert, 21, made eight MLS starts and had two clean sheets for the team in 2025.
