Diego Simeone has stated that Atletico Madrid will pay close attention to Conor Gallagher when they face Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.
Gallagher moved from Atletico to Spurs during the January transfer window for about £34.6 million, returning to the Premier League.
During his 18 months at Atletico, Gallagher gained popularity among fans, even though he didn’t secure a regular spot in Simeone’s lineup.
He has yet to score in eight league matches since joining Spurs, who are currently facing a relegation battle after an 11-game winless streak.
Despite Gallagher’s struggle at Spurs, Simeone recognizes his potential as the teams prepare for their Champions League last-16 match tomorrow.
“Very humble, very dangerous. Can play different positions on the pitch,” Simeone remarked about Gallagher at his pre-match press conference.
“He has a strong work ethic and good behavior, leaving us with positive memories from his time at Atletico Madrid.”
