The club had agreed with Saudi team Al-Nassr last month, but they couldn’t register the defender in time due to FIFA rules and the transfer window deadline. Now that those issues are resolved, Laporte joins the Basque squad officially.

Laporte previously played for Athletic from 2012 to 2018 before moving to Manchester City for €65 million. His last club was Al-Nassr, who received €10 million for his transfer.

The length of Laporte’s contract with Bilbao will be disclosed later. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €15 million.

Reminder: Athletic Bilbao has launched a full campaign to complete the registration of Aymeric Laporte.
