Barcelona have received bad news from Pau Cubarsi, who played for Spain during the international break. The player has suffered an injury and is unlikely to play in the next game.

Pau Cubarsi started the first leg of the UEFA Nations League quarter-final between Spain and Netherlands at the De Kuip stadium on Friday (21 March). Spain went home with a positive result after a 2-2 draw.

But the result also took its toll. Pau Cubarsi was injured in the first half. He collapsed after a hard tackle from Memphis Depay. The defender was replaced by Dean Huijsen.

The injury makes Pau Cubarsi a doubt for the return leg. Barcelona were inevitably affected. Barca will also play Osasuna in a postponed match on 27 March 2025.

Meanwhile, La Furia Roja tactician Luis de la Fuente has issued a statement regarding Pau Cubarsi’s injury. The Spanish medical team will carry out further tests on the 18-year-old.

“He has a sprained ankle. We’re going to try to get it back on Sunday and we’ll see how he is in the next few days,” said Luis de la Fuente, as quoted by Marca.

“It doesn’t seem too serious. But there are only a few days left to recover. We have to be careful.
