Footem.in – FC Barcelona has officially announced that 26-year-old Spanish goalkeeper Inaki Pena has extended his contract until 2029 and will be loaned to La Liga club Elche for the upcoming season.
In their official statement, Barcelona confirmed that Pena will join Elche on a one-year loan. This decision was made to ensure he gains more playing time at a high level, considering the fierce competition for the starting position at Camp Nou.
Along with the loan, Barcelona secured Pena with a long-term contract extension until 2029, a condition that facilitated his transfer during this summer’s transfer window.
Interestingly, this is not Pena’s first loan experience; he was previously loaned out to Turkish club Galatasaray before returning to Barcelona. This pattern is aimed at fostering his growth through experiences at other clubs.
Pena’s departure marks a significant step for Barcelona in streamlining their squad this summer. With this transfer confirmed, the club can now focus on other matters, including the futures of players like Oriol Romeu and Hector Fort, who are also rumored to be on their way out.
