Barcelona is making strong efforts to keep Robert Lewandowski on the team.
Details: The club has presented a new proposal, offering a contract extension until June 2027. However, the terms are challenging, as Barcelona is asking for a 40–50% pay cut for the Polish striker.
Lewandowski currently earns around €24 million annually, including bonuses. The club aims to reduce its wage bill to comply with financial fair play regulations.
Negotiations are underway with Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi. They are discussing not just Lewandowski’s future, but also a contract extension for head coach Hansi Flick and the potential transfer of young star Luka Vuskovic.
While Barcelona believes Lewandowski wants to stay in Catalonia, no final decision has been reached. The striker is considering his options, especially given attractive offers from MLS and Saudi Arabia, along with interest from top Italian clubs Juventus and AC Milan.
Reminder: Diego Simeone aims to replicate the outcome of the first match against Barcelona.
