Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet in the Spanish Super Cup final this Sunday as both teams aim for their first trophy of the 2025-26 season.
This is the fourth consecutive year these two rivals face each other in the final, and the match at Jeddah’s King Abdullah Sports City Stadium promises to be exciting, given their previous encounters at this stage.
Barcelona secured the title in the 2025 edition with a 5-2 victory after having lost 4-1 to Real the year before. In 2023, Barcelona won 3-1 in the final.
Barcelona team news
Barcelona’s Marc-André ter Stegen is out with a knee injury and is expected to return in mid-January, possibly in a league match against Racing Santander. Andreas Christensen will be unavailable due to an ACL injury sustained in training.
Gavi is recovering from knee surgery for a medial meniscus tear and will not be back until early 2026.
Ronald Araujo could be included in the squad as he has returned to full training. However, Eric García is likely to partner Pau Cubarsí in defense. Up front, Marcus Rashford, Robert Lewandowski, and Roony Bardghji may be on the bench, showing Hansi Flick’s depth in attack.
Barcelona predicted lineup
Expected Barcelona starting XI: J Garcia; Kounde, Cubarsi, E Garcia, Balde; Pedri, De Jong; Yamal, Raphinha, Fermin; F Torres
When will the match kick off?
