Barcelona did not finalize a deal with Manchester United on time.
The club may soon lose Marcus Rashford.
Details: Journalist Neil Sola reports that the buyout clause for 28-year-old Rashford, agreed upon during his loan to Barcelona, has expired.
This purchase option was available until the end of March, and failing to act by then rendered it void.
Previous reports suggested that Barcelona was not interested in paying the €30 million release clause in the agreement and is now looking to either extend Rashford’s loan for another season or negotiate a lower fee for a permanent transfer.
However, Manchester United is cautious about Barcelona’s approach and has started looking for a new club for Rashford, even though the player has shown his wish to remain in Barcelona.
During this season, Rashford has played 39 times for Barcelona, scoring 10 goals and assisting 13 times. His market value is estimated at €40 million, according to Transfermarkt.
Reminder: Will he take the deal? Barcelona is making a new contract offer to Lewandowski.
