After Erik ten Hag was let go from his role as Bayer’s head coach a week ago, the club needed to find a new leader quickly.
Details: According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayer’s new head coach will be Danish expert Kasper Hjulmand, who previously led the Danish national team. It is reported that an agreement has been reached, and a contract is expected to be signed within two days. Following that, Hjulmand will conduct his first training session in Leverkusen.
Reminder: Hjulmand was in charge of Denmark from 2020 to 2024, leading them to their first European Championship semifinal since 1992. However, the team did not advance past the group stage in the 2022 World Cup, and they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Germany in the most recent Euros.
Earlier reports indicated that Bayer’s management had several complaints about ten Hag, who had a brief tenure of just two months, with some calling him one of the worst coaches the club has seen in the last two decades.
