Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga title defence began in ruthless fashion as they hammered RB Leipzig 6-0, with Harry Kane grabbing a second-half hat-trick.
Michael Olise and Luis Diaz also shone for Vincent Kompany’s side, combining flair and finishing to blow Leipzig away at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern’s dominance was clear from the 27th minute when Olise finished off a flowing move with a precise right-footed strike. Five minutes later, Diaz marked his Bundesliga debut in style, smashing home a thunderous effort that clipped the crossbar on its way in.
Before half-time, Olise struck again, calmly slotting past Peter Gulacsi after a neat assist from Serge Gnabry.
Then came the Kane show. The England striker scored his first by sitting down his marker and finishing coolly past the Leipzig goalkeeper. He followed it up with two more in just 13 minutes to complete a stunning hat-trick.
Leipzig thought they had pulled one back through Antonio Nusa, but the effort was ruled out as the free-kick in the buildup was incorrectly taken. Bayern punished that lapse immediately with more attacking firepower.
