In recent weeks, OGC Nice has been facing an unprecedented sporting crisis. Despite having a squad capable of competing for European spots, the team currently sits in a troubling tenth place in the standings. They are at the bottom of their Europa League group with no points after five matches, leading to a period of doubt that seems to drag on. In their last six matches across all competitions, Nice has struggled, highlighting serious concerns. Additionally, tensions have been rising for weeks due to Franck Haise’s increasingly bizarre comments regarding his future at the club.

With mounting speculation about his departure, the 54-year-old coach has expressed dissatisfaction with his team. Concurrently, the atmosphere within the squad has been turbulent. Beside the uncertainty arising from these poor results, tensions between the fans and players have escalated further each day. After a disappointing defeat against Lorient this past Sunday (3-1), a clip emerged showing Sofiane Diop justifying himself to unhappy fans during a tense exchange. However, the situation worsened upon the team’s return from their trip to Brittany.

OGC Nice Fans Confront Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi

Upon their arrival at the airport, players were greeted by a bleak atmosphere following their string of poor results. They learned that around 200 fans were waiting for them at the training center. On the bus, several players expressed concerns about this potentially dangerous encounter. Their fears materialized when they arrived at the training ground to find 400 fans present. One fan managed to board the bus and confronted the players, demanding that they get off and threatening them. With security surprisingly lax around the supporters, the players complied, leading to a heated exchange. Initially chanting for Haise to resign, the fans shifted their focus and verbally and physically attacked some players. Terem Moffi and Jérémie Boga were particularly targeted; both attackers faced kicks, slaps, and spitting from the crowd.

Surrounded by dozens of fans, the two players faced assaults from multiple individuals. The Nigerian forward barely managed to escape unharmed. Reflecting the growing rift, numerous Nice supporters expressed on social media that Boga and Moffi would no longer play for the team following the shocking violence. Even Florian Maurice was struck before being escorted away by security. Curiously absent from the scene was Fabrice Bocquet; the Gym’s president, who had access to his car at the airport, did not accompany the players to the training center. His absence, noted by the fans, raises concerns within the club. The entire Nice team is in shock after this surreal incident, which could have serious repercussions.
