Manchester United are waiting for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko to express his desire to play for the Red Devils and move to Old Trafford, before entering into transfer negotiations.

The club is now locked in a fierce battle with Newcastle United for the young striker, who is reportedly yet to make a decision on his future.

According to a report in the Manchester Evening News, United are making progress in their efforts to bring the Slovenian international to Old Trafford this summer.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports reports that Newcastle have made an opening bid of almost £70 million for Sesko.

The situation became even more interesting when it emerged that Newcastle’s star striker, Alexander Isak, was considering a new challenge. This prompted the Magpies to step up their efforts to sign Sesko.

Liverpool have also reportedly made an offer worth £110 million, but this was rejected by Leipzig.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano explained that the decision currently rests solely with Sesko. He added that interested clubs are ready to submit a formal offer if Sesko gives the green light.

“The current offer won’t make a difference because Newcastle are ready to pay whatever it takes to sign Sesko, and Manchester United are ready to start negotiations if he chooses them,” said Romano, quoting from his social media account.

According to Romano, the negotiation process has entered a crucial stage, marked by the presence of Sesko’s agent in Leipzig. The agent has arrived to speak directly with the player and facilitate communication with the RB Leipzig management team.

Manchester United are indeed looking to strengthen their attack, having previously secured the services of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. Although no official offer has yet been made public, the club has informed RB Leipzig that they intend to submit a proposal soon.

A decision from Sesko is expected soon, as the transfer window draws nearer.
