In an interview with L’Equipe, Karim Benzema discussed his future amid growing speculation about a potential return to Lyon. Currently contracted with Al Ittihad until June 2026, the French striker provided an open yet clear response regarding the possibility of going back to OL, acknowledging that it’s not out of the question.
“I don’t have a specific club in mind. I have two years left to play football, and I’m giving my all. It’s been a two-year battle. On the field, I give my everything. I still have the mindset of a 20-year-old when it comes to football. I’m ready to play at a high level for another two years. It’s hard to say, ‘I want to go back there,’ because I’ve left such a great image… You never know what can happen. It’s not fear of returning; sometimes it’s better to leave things as they are. Perhaps I could help the club in another capacity… but playing, I’m not sure.”
