Everton have reportedly opened talks to sign Manchester City star Jack Grealish on a season-long loan, according to The Athletic. The 29-year-old England international is being seriously pursued by the Toffees as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
Grealish, who arrived at City in 2021 from Aston Villa for a whopping £100 million, has struggled to cement his place in the starting XI recently. Last season, he made it into Pep Guardiola’s Premier League starting lineup only seven times.
Back in the 2022-23 season, Grealish played a key role in City’s historic treble win, starting in every Champions League knockout game. But since that high point, his form has dipped noticeably.
Over the past two Premier League seasons, he has featured in only 20 games each year. And in the current 2024-25 season, he has managed just one goal and one assist so far — far from the impact City expected when they broke the bank to sign him.
Things haven’t been much better for him at the international level either. Grealish hasn’t played for England since Gareth Southgate left him out of the Euro 2024 squad. And new manager Thomas Tuchel is yet to recall him.
With game time drying up at both club and country, a move to Everton could offer Grealish the fresh start he needs. Whether City will let him leave — even on loan — remains to be seen. But one thing’s clear: Everton are pushing hard to make this deal happen.
