According to Clarín, Miguel Ángel Russo has been released from the Fleni clinic after spending 72 hours in treatment for a urinary infection. Doctors advised him to skip Monday’s training session in Ezeiza, but Boca officials are hopeful he will be able to travel to Rosario and coach the team against Central at the Gigante de Arroyito on Sunday.

Assisting him, Claudio Ubeda and Juvenal Rodríguez took charge of training as the squad returned after the weekend break. The coaching staff is cautiously optimistic: “Miguel needs to regain his strength. That’s the main focus. Knowing him, he’ll want to be in Rosario.” This match holds extra significance, as Russo is well-respected by Central’s supporters from his five managerial tenures with the club, totaling nearly 300 matches.

Russo was admitted to a Buenos Aires clinic last Wednesday and discharged on Friday evening, but he has not yet returned to his normal routine and is advised to rest at home. He has a history of bladder and prostate cancer surgeries from 2017 to 2018, which necessitates careful attention to his recovery.

On the field, Boca is managing several absences. Goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín has a torn soleus from the game against Aldosivi and will be replaced by Leandro Brey. Defender Marco Pellegrino is still out, leaving Ayrton Costa to fill in at central defense. On a positive note, Ander Herrera and Tomás Belmonte have returned to training with the squad and are likely to be included in the roster. The key question remains whether Russo will be on the bench, ready for the warm reception from Central’s fans that he is accustomed to.
