Argentine sources report that Boca Juniors is racing to complete Kevin Zenón’s transfer to CSKA Moscow. The Russian transfer window closes on Thursday, September 11, and negotiations have hit a standstill.
Zenón, who was once valued so highly that Boca turned down bids near his 20-million-dollar release clause, has been out of action for over 40 days. His desire to leave the club led to his exclusion from the team, and Boca hoped to find him a new club before the deadline.
The situation worsened when CSKA decided to sign Henrique Carmo, an 18-year-old Brazilian winger, for 6 million dollars for 80 percent of his rights. This move, similar in cost to Boca’s previous offers, fills the same position Zenón was expected to play, complicating his potential transfer to the Russian club.
Sources from Boca suggest that discussions are not completely finished, but a financial disagreement remains. The club feels the current offer is inadequate, and Zenón’s market value has dropped significantly. With the deadline approaching, it seems likely that he will continue his season in Buenos Aires, remaining under contract with Boca but far from the main spotlight he once had.
