Boca Juniors has shown an unexpected trend this semester, scoring 11 goals with the highest contributors not being forwards. Rodrigo Battaglia and young defender Lautaro Di Lollo each have two goals, according to TyC Sports.

Battaglia, a midfielder alongside Leandro Paredes, scored against Rosario Central and Aldosivi. Di Lollo got his first goal with a header against Unión and added another against Aldosivi. Following them, Cavani, Merentiel, Giménez, Zeballos, and Velasco each have one goal, as well as an own goal from Independiente Rivadavia.

Boca’s most effective approach has been through set pieces, with four of the 11 goals coming from these situations. Paredes has played a major role, being directly or indirectly involved in over 60% of the goals. His corners resulted in goals for Di Lollo, Battaglia, and Cavani, while a free kick led to Giménez’s goal against Racing. He also had a shot that resulted in an own goal and assisted Merentiel’s goal against Banfield, as well as setting up Brian Aguirre last weekend.

In total, Paredes has assisted in seven of Boca’s 11 goals, solidifying his position as the team’s main playmaker. With Battaglia and Di Lollo unexpectedly stepping up and Paredes excelling in set pieces, Boca has improved its performance and remains unbeaten in the last four matches.
