Inter Milan will face Bologna in the semi-final of the Supercoppa Italiana on Friday night.
Cristian Chivu’s team is currently at the top of Serie A and will be motivated by their strong form. Bologna is looking to bounce back from their recent Serie A loss and hopes to continue their good record against Inter, having lost only once in their last six encounters.
Bologna will head to Saudi Arabia missing several key players as they aim to surprise Serie A leaders Inter Milan. Injuries have affected their lineup significantly. First-choice goalkeeper Łukasz Skorupski is out, leaving backup Federico Ravaglia to start in goal.
Midfielder Remo Freuler is also sidelined, and the defense is under pressure with Martin Vitík and Nicolò Casale unavailable, while Jhon Lucumí is dealing with a tendon issue.
Santiago Castro is expected to lead the attack after Thijs Dallinga’s lackluster performance against Juventus. Castro has scored five goals this season and will be supported by Riccardo Orsolini, who has tallied eight goals and one assist.
Inter Milan is dealing with injuries as Cristian Chivu prepares for the semifinal. Veteran defender Francesco Acerbi is out with a thigh injury, and wing-back Denzel Dumfries has undergone ankle surgery, sidelining him until March.
Hakan Calhanoglu injured his muscle during a recent Champions League match and might not start, although he has traveled to Saudi Arabia. Matteo Darmian, who has been out for nearly three months, is included in the squad.
Lautaro Martinez will lead the attack, having scored 12 goals this season. He is also Inter’s all-time top scorer in Supercoppa history, making him crucial for the team.
Chivu has called up three Primavera prospects to bolster the squad, including wingback Matteo Cocchi, defender Simone Cinquegrano, and backup goalkeeper Alain Taho.
Bologna is currently sixth in Serie A with 25 points from 15 matches. They are performing well across competitions, having won the Coppa Italia last season and reached the Europa League knockout stage. Their last match ended in a 1-0 defeat at home to Juventus, with Juan Cabal scoring the only goal.
Inter Milan has recently taken the top spot in Serie A after a 2-1 victory against Genoa. They have 33 points from 15 matches and remain the only team alongside AS Roma without a draw in the league this season.
