Meanwhile, Union Berlin also won their 27th Bundesliga match of the season, defeating SC Freiburg 2-1 at the Europa-Park Stadium in Freiburg on Sunday evening.
Goals from Rani Khedira and Andrej Ilic gave Union Berlin the win, while Freiburg had taken the lead through Lucas Holer.
The win lifted Union Berlin to 13th in the Bundesliga table with 30 points from 27 games, eight points above the relegation zone.
Freiburg, on the other hand, remained seventh in the table with 42 points from 27 games, three points off the top four.
Statistically, Union Berlin created more chances with 10 shots, six of which were on target, while Freiburg had the better possession with 73 per cent.
